If you've recently found yourself with a windfall of cash or have been saving up a lot of money and are itching to spend it, there are a lot of ways you can invest your cash. You can make some home renovations on your St. John's or Port Perry real estate, you can buy a lot of lottery tickets, you can talk to a financial advisor who will tell you about investment options such as stocks or mutual funds or you can become an independent film producer.

Those are all valid options, depending on your lifestyle. One option that not too many Gatineau or Toronto Beaches real estate property owners think about are timeshares. No one really thinks about timeshares as a valid investment option but they can be. Not only do you find a way to invest that extra cash that's burning a hole in your wallet but you provide yourself with a perfect vacation destination.

Timeshares get a bad rap. If all you know about timeshares you learned from hokey sitcom plotlines in which a family gets screwed over because their timeshare has been rented out to multiple people at the same time then you don't really know much about timeshares. Timeshares are a great investment as you will always have a place to go to on vacation. You don't have to worry about planning a vacation and finding out the cottage rentals in PEI are all booked up. If you own a timeshare you have a place to stay. There are so many timeshares around the world that you might be able to exchange timeshares with other timeshare owners so you can timeshare in a different city just to change things up here and there.

If you ever get tired of owning a timeshare you can always sell it at a later date. Depending on the market, you might even make a profit off your initial investment. You can then use that profit to buy condos for sale in Toronto or Victoria.

Recently, timeshares, have started using points systems. These points can be used to redeem airplane tickets, amusement park tickets, cruises and hotel stays. Do you get points from your Toronto condo apartment rental? Didn't think so. The next time someone asks you if you want to invest in a timeshare, don't laugh at them right away. Hear them out as you might be offered the opportunity of a lifetime.
